Westminster Larger Catechism in modern English question number fifty-five:
Q. 55. How does Christ make intercession?
A. Christ makes intercession for us by his continual appearance in our nature before the Father in heaven and by declaring it to be His will that the merit of his obedience and sacrifice on earth should be applied to all believers. He answers all accusations against them, thus procuring for them quiet of conscience, despite daily failings, access to the throne of grace with boldness, and acceptance of their persons and services.
