“For the dragon is defeated by the word and the blood of the Lamb.” ~lyrics by Michael Card

What this sentence reminds me of…

“And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.” ~Revelation 12:11

“He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to an open shame, by triumphing over them in him.” ~Colossians 2:15

“For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives, he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal bodies, to make you obey your passions.” ~Romans 6:10-12

“The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until tribute comes to him; and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.” ~Genesis 49:10

“‘Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.’ And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain.” ~Revelation 5b-6a

“Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins.” ~Hebrews 9:22

“…and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith…It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” ~Romans 3:25a and 26

“I will put emnity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” ~Genesis 3:15

“Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.” ~Revelation 19:11-16

The dragon, that serpant of old, together with the sting of his power, were once for all conquered by Christ upon the cross. Victory has been won by the power of the Word of God and his atoning blood! Amen.
