The Westminster Larger Catechism in modern English question number thirteen:

Q. 13. What has God especially decreed about angels and people?

A. God, because of His love and for the praise of His glorious grace to be revealed in due time, has elected some angels to glory by an eternal and unchangeable decree. And, in Christ, He has chosen some people for eternal life and the means to it. Also, according to His sovereign power and the unsearchable counsel of His own will (by which He extends or withholds favor as He pleases), He has passed by and foreordained the rest to dishonor and to His wrath, to be afflicted for their sin, to the praise of the glory of His justice.
